La Diligence Restaurant in Montpellier Town Centre

Situated on Place Pétrarque between Place de la Comédie and Place de la Préfecture, just behind Place Jean Jaurès, Montpellier's gourmet restaurant La Diligence, in Hérault, was established over 40 years ago. Messieurs Jérôme Chaneguier and Cédric Lavergne took over in October 2008, after the restaurant was lovingly restored by Alain Bacquoy who since the beginning of the 90s, has been reviving buildings.

French food is always on the menu for this Montpellier fine dining experience which aims to hold its own among the top renowned restaurants in Montpellier and even the Languedoc Roussillon region.

This is also a place of discovery because this Montpellier restaurant is located within a listed 14th century site, with a sequence of four vaulted rooms. Also, the perfect summer location as it boasts a shaded patio.

Chef Laurent Riflade's traditional French cuisine is both innovative and creative: sweet and savoury combinations, gently simmered dishes, worldly spices and techniques inspired by Nouvelle Cuisine.

Ideally situated, in the very heart of Montpellier’s historic “Ecusson” shield-shaped city centre, this restaurant renews its menu every three months according to the seasons.

The wine menu makes reference to a good hundred or so regions of France, carefully selected to suit all tastes, thanks to the intimate knowledge of each wine by trained Sommelier Jérôme Chaneguier.

A "Mets et Vin" wine suggestion menu has also been carefully developed with Chef Laurent Riflade.

One further discovery also appears from the depths of La Diligence restaurant: a whisky library offers up the best bottles from Scotland, Ireland, America, Canada, France and even Japan. A collection of more than 200 whiskies awaits your delectation.
